In the stunning landscapes of Ganzi, Sichuan Province, there is a wealth of lithium mineral resources nestled among three mountains and crossed by the Zeduo River. Unlike typical mining areas with exposed mountainsides and swirling dust, Rongjie's mining area boasts a picturesque scenery reminiscent of an oil painting. Here, blue skies, white clouds, and snow-capped plateaus peacefully coexist with lush greenery.
Since acquiring the mining rights for vein No. 134 in the Methika Lithium Spodumene Mine in 2005, Rongjie Group has been dedicated to establishing an environmentally friendly and sustainable mine. By implementing internationally recognized principles of ecological restoration known as "mining while restoring", the group has successfully fulfilled its social obligations towards ecological restoration and environmental preservation.
The Gyabjeka Mine is situated in a delicate and vulnerable plateau environment, with limited suitable plant species and low survival rates for ecological vegetation. Despite the immense challenges of ecological restoration, Rongjie Group has established an Ecological Restoration Engineering Center, actively collaborated with various professional institutions and departments for solutions, and partnered with the Chengdu Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences to establish an expert workstation. A professional team was assembled to carry out regular and specialized ecological restoration projects within the mining area. Currently, the mine has achieved a soil utilization rate of 100% and a vegetation coverage rate of over 98% in the ecological restoration area, creating a green miracle on the snowy plateau.
Creating a suitable environment for root growth on steep and rocky slopes is a major ecological restoration challenge in mining areas. Gyabjeka Mining Site, owned by Rongjie Group, is situated at an elevation of 4,400 meters on the plateau of western Sichuan. The rock slopes are incredibly steep, with angles reaching up to 70° and vertical sections that are around 10 meters high. In total, the slope surface area spans 15,000 square meters. This location is not only characterized by high altitude and steepness but also features smooth rocky surfaces, making it even more challenging for vegetation to establish. Furthermore, the local climatic conditions are unfavorable for plant growth.
In the face of this formidable challenge, Rongjie Group has organized multiple seminars with experts from universities, research institutes, and other fields. Despite the high costs involved, Rongjie ultimately adopted the most advanced hydroseeding technology for restoration. Throughout the restoration process, unpredictable changes in plateau weather, frequent rainfall and snowfall, as well as freezing and thawing cycles exacerbated the already fragile growing conditions. The mining ecological restoration team raced against time to overcome weather impacts and implement various measures to protect vulnerable seeds and seedlings. As of 2022, Rongjie has made significant efforts in the governance and ecological restoration of the Gyabjeka Mining Site. 20,000 kilograms of grass and flower seeds have been sown, 105,000 square meters of turf have been laid and planted, and 15,000 square meters of slopes have been hydroseeded. Additionally, Rongjie has transplanted 3,000 plateau spruce trees, 21,000 plateau willow trees, and 8,900 various flower seedlings. Moreover, more than 100 shrubs have been transplanted in the stripped and mined areas. In total, over 1 thousand acres of land have been reclaimed and revegetated at the mining site. This transformation has turned the mining site into a "garden-style" location adorned with lush green grasses, blooming flowers,and harmonious landscapes.

Developing a green mine begins with implementing green mining practices. At the Gyabjeka Spodumene Deposit, certain sections of the ore body are exposed on the surface, sloping from south to north and with a relative elevation difference of 90 meters. To address the issue of dust generated by mining and beneficiation operations, comprehensive measures have been put in place to ensure dust-free and clean production. Dust is controlled at its source through the use of efficient, low-consumption, and non-toxic ore dressing reagents. Equipment is fully enclosed and protected, equipped with continuous 24-hour dust suppression and collection devices. Dust removal management has been enhanced by covering vehicles within the mine area and cleaning them before leaving the premises. Main roads along transportation routes are completely paved, while continuous water spraying is carried out to achieve seamless, comprehensive, and thorough dust control throughout all areas involved in production and transportation at the mine site.
n the process of developing the Gyabjeka Spodumene Deposit, Rongjie Group prioritizes both ecological protection and maximizing resource utilization through "green processing". The production wastewater is treated as a valuable resource, resulting in "zero discharge" and "zero pollution" of wastewater. This approach ensures the harmonious coexistence of resource development, utilization, and the ecological environment.
Over the years, the company has continuously increased research and development investment in water recycling treatment. By overcoming water recycling treatment technology, the integrated treatment system for tailings slurry has been upgraded, including tailings storage facilities, sedimentation tanks, water recycling collection pools, and overflow culverts. After undergoing processes such as sedimentation and clarification, the production wastewater is 100% recovered and recycled, effectively promoting the construction of energy-saving and environmentally friendly mines.
At the same time, the company has installed an online water quality monitoring system downstream of the tailings storage facility to conduct real-time environmental monitoring. Measures such as installing impermeable membranes in the tailings storage facility and water recycling pool are taken to prevent water leakage and enhance environmental safety.
After eighteen years of dedicated work, Rongjie Group has successfully built a foundation for environmentally friendly mining, and ultimately achieved a green mining production model that is free from dust, wastewater, and low in energy consumption.
